Description

Scenario

Use this scenario when you:

Interactive, graphical
deployment on a local host

Online:

HP Service Pack for
ProLiant (SPP)

Windows:

hpsum

Are not familiar with
command line tools

Run HP SUM on the server
being updated.

Linux:

./hpsum

Are deploying
components on a local,
single host

Offline:

HP SPP

Do not require scripting

Want to select the
components to be
installed

Use this scenario when you:

Scripted deployment on a
local host

Online:

HP SPP

Windows:

hpsum -s

Are familiar with
command line tools

Run HP SUM from a network
share on a local server.

Linux:

./hpsum -s

Are deploying
components on a local,
single host

Offline:

None

Must perform a
customized, scripted
deployment

Are unable to unlock the
required HP SUM
network ports for remote
deployment

Use this scenario when you:

Interactive, graphical
deployment to a remote host

Online:

Windows:

hpsum

Are not familiar with
command line tools

HP SPP

Run HP SUM from a
workstation and update

Linux:

./hpsum

HP Integrity Smart
Update Firmware
bundles

Do not require scripting
