In an effort to comply with certain requirements in regard to Tier II Emission Standards, Deere and
Company initiated a change to the crank shaft pulley on many of the new 6020 series tractors. This was
a random change, which did not affect all tractors. In addition, a specific serial number break does not
exist to identify the affected units.
The Tier II pulley can be identified as a 5 spoke design as indicated in the figure above (See Figure 1).
This pulley must be changed to the tapered lock, solid cast pulley as shown to allow adaptation of the
required front pump drive system used to power the Alamo Industrial products. (See Figure 2)
To change the pulley:
Remove the original pulley retaining bolt, shouldered washer and pulley. (See Figure 1) Clean nose of
Crankshaft using LOCKTITE® number 7649 clean and cure primer. Place a light layer 2 mm to 3 mm
(.079 - .118 in.) of LOCKTITE ® brand adhesive number 680 (TY15969) to the leading edge of the
crankshaft nose.
Install the replacement pulley (P/N 02979857) If any paint inside of pulley it needs to be removed. Make
certain to align the pulley with crankshaft, install pulley. (See Pulley Figure 3). Do not hammer on
Vibration Damper (Pulley) it must be handled in a way that avoids impact damage. Make certain that
you installed the Locktite primer and adhesive as described in previous step before you installed the
pulley, this is very important.
