Driven by a PROFIBUS PA
•
De-central unit for efficient collaboration with a central automation equipment
(e.g., process control system)
•
High process security due to bi-directional transmission of signals
-
switching commands from process control system to valve
-
sensor signals for registration of the valve position of the process valve.
•
The device may be operated with the extended PROFIBUS DP-
Communication (DPV1) in the cyclic and acyclic modes. The process values
are controlled via the cyclic data traffic, e.g. from a PLC. Configuration is
carried out from an operating device via the acyclic data traffic (e.g.
CommuWins SIMATIC PDM).
With regard to the parameters for the configuration and the process data
traffic, the “PROFIBUS PA
Profile for Process Control Devices” applies. The
obligatory and optional parameters which are available in the unit are defined
in this document. The profile documentation can be obtained from the PNO
(PROFIBUS Utilisation Organisation).

PROFIBUS PA
The PROFIBUS PA connects the automation system and the process control
system with the de-central field units. It uses the extended PROFIBUS DP
protocol in connection with the transmission technology according to IEC 1158-2.
PROFIBUS PA fulfils the special requirements of traffic technology, e.g., for the
chemical and petrochemical areas:
•
Uniform application profile for process automation and complete inter-
operability between various PROFIBUS PA devices.
•
Connection of the process automation with the PROFIBUS PA to the
general automation via the PROFIBUS DP using the transmission
technology to EIA RS 485 or optical waveguides
•
Remote supply and data transmission in two-wire technique with PROFI-
BUS PA
•
Use of PROFIBUS PA within areas with danger of explosion with explosive
protection class Inherent Safety through application of transmission
technology to IEC 1158-2
•
Simple linking of the PROFIBUS DP and PROFIBUS PA bus segments by
means of segment couplers
