Replacing Failed Hard Disk Drives
Follow the procedure below to locate and replace the failed hard disk. The failed hard disk
should be replaced with new device with the server powered-on.
How to Locate Failed Disks
1. From [Start], select [All Programs] - [RDR] and click [RDR Utility] to start [RDR
Utility].
2. From the tree on the left frame of [RDR Utility], select each disk and check the values
of [MTBF: Current] and [MtbfThresholdStatus] in the right frame.
TIP:
For RDR Utility, see “About RDR Utility” on page 3-16.
[Description of each MTBF value]
Property name Description Normal value*
MTBF: Current Mean time between failures. Unknown
MtbfThresholdStatus The status of comparing the MTBF value
with the threshold level (1200 seconds).
Normal
* The normal value denotes the value of when no error has occurred.
If either of the values is different from the normal value, the disk has an error.
