140 Troubleshooting
Video problems
The system is running but the screen is blank
Probable cause Solution
The monitor is not turned on Make sure that the monitor is plugged in and turned on.
If the monitor is turned on, the green power LED should
illuminate.
The monitor data cable is
not connected Make sure that the monitor data cable is connected to the
video controller on the back of the server.
The connector or cable is
damaged Check the connector and cable for bent or damaged pins.
The monitor brightness and
contrast controls are turned
down Adjust the brightness and contrast knobs to the center
position.
The monitor is defective Connect a working monitor to the server.
The video card is not seated
correctly Open the server, then make sure the video card is seated
properly. Some servers do not have a video controller
card because the video controller is built into the system
board.
The video card is not
compatible with the server Check the documentation or technical support to make
sure that the video card is compatible with the server. If
not, obtain a compatible video card. The server board
may have a built-in video adapter, so there may not be
a video adapter to remove and replace.
The terminator card or the
second processor is not
seated properly Open the server and reseat the terminator card or the
second processor.
