DHCP
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a communication protocol that lets network administrators
manage the network centrally and automate the assignment of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses in an
organization's network.When an organization sets up its computer users, a unique IP address must be
assigned to each machine.
Without DHCP, the IP address must be entered manually on each computer. If a computer is moved to another
location in another part of the network, a new IP address must be entered. DHCP allows a network
administrator to supervise and distribute IP addresses from a central point and automatically sends a new IP
address when a computer is plugged into a different place in the network.
To configure the DHCP server, move the cursor to dhcp command and press the enter key. The following
sub-menu will be displayed

The generic DHCP parameters can be configured via generic command.

The activate the DHCP function use the active command.
Set the default gateway vie the gateway command.
The subnet mask for the DHCP client is configured by using the netmask command.
Ip_range command is used to configure the dynamic assigned IP address range.
The dynamic IP maximum lease time is configured by via the lease_time command.
You can set upto 3 domain named servers via the name_server commands.
