Chapter 7
Advanced Operation
The SE-4000 is a High Definition Digital Video Switcher. As well as mixing video and audio
sources, it has additional functions such as Picture In Picture (PIP), DSK, LUMA KEY, Chroma
Key and Logos.
Before attempting to use the SE-4000’s PIP, DSK LUMA KEY and LOGO functions it may help
to first understand the order of the video layers at the SE-4000 Program (PGM) outputs.
When logos 1 and 2 are enabled on PROGRAM and PREVIEW windows at the same time, you
will be allowed to select two types of logos.
-
Standard logo: max size of 480 x 1080 (1 still frame)
-
Animated logo: max size of 480 x 270 (dynamic made up of 120 frames)
The Background video layer is the normal video layer (black screen, color matte, color bars,
inputs 1-8) when mixing and switching with the SE-4000. It occupies the whole screen area of
the Program output. This layer can be hidden or partly hidden by the PIP, DSK and LOGO layers
in front of it.
The Key 1 layer (PIP1, chroma key or luma key) does not occupy the whole screen and is
shown in front of the Background video layer when enabled.
The Key 2 layer (PIP2, chroma key or luma key) does not occupy the whole screen and is
shown in front of the Background video and Key 1 layers when enabled.
