Configure Tape CU’s Panel
Selecting the [Tape CU’s] button on the Configure Tape Drives menu will result in the
following panel appearance.
Field Definitions
Tape Controller Index: This is an index number assigned by the VI-5990 for the
displayed CU. This number is internal to the VI-5990 and has no affect on host
communications.
Tape Controller Name: The name entered into this field is for use on the VI-5990 and
does not need to be matched to any external name. For simplicity, you may want to use
the name assigned in the IO gen.
CUADD: This value must correspond to the CUADD value assigned in the CNTLUNIT
macro that is associated with this definition.
Device Type: The options for the field are 3490 and 3590. Configure whichever value
this platform will appear as to the host. (For example a 3590 can have 256K maximum
block sizes, while a 3490 is limited to 64K maximum block sizes.
Starting Unit Address: This option should contain the first address in a range of
addresses used by this virtual tape controller and its range of virtual tape drives.
Ending Unit Address: This option should contain the last address in a range of
addresses used by this virtual tape controller and its range of virtual tape drives.
