Return: Pressing this button will take you back to the Configure Tape Drives menu. If
you have not saved the changes that you made while on this panel, a message will be
displayed allowing you to save the changes before you exit the panel.
Configuring Path’s
Select the [Path’s] button on the Configure Tape Drives menu. Doing so should result in
the following panel:
Field Definitions
Path Name: Enter the name that you wish to use for the Path that you are defining. In
some cases you may want to use the CHPID name or a combination of Host and CHPID
to keep the name relevant to what you are doing. Other possible names may include the
switch and port that the VI-5990 is attached to.
Host Director Port: This entry identifies the FICON switch and port to which the host
is attached, related to the PATH/CHPID being defined in the previous field. If the FICON
channel is directly attached to the host, the value for this field should be ‘FFFF’.
Ficon Channel: This control is a dropdown control that includes all of the FICON
interfaces installed on this platform. Select the FICON Channel interface that the
PATH/CHPID will be connected to.
