Computer Control
Introduction
You can set up a program to communicate with and control the Simulator via its
RS232 port. To control the Simulator by computer:
1. Switch the Simulator power on using the slide switch. The LCD sequentially
displays the following screens for about one second each before ending on the Main
Menu 1 screen:
•
Bio-Tek Instruments Inc. and model number and version
•
Software version number and copyright years
•
Make of last selected test equipment
•
Main Menu 1 screen

2. Connect the Simulator to the computer by connecting the RS232 cable to both the the
Simulator and the computer’s ports. Use a serial or null-modem cable. The RS232
port is a male DB 9-pin port.

See “Appendix A: Printing & Data Transfer” for information on how to
configure the Simulator's RS232 port to match the speed, bit settings, and
parity of your computer system's serial port.
3. To initiate computer control, send a left bracket ([) from your computer to the
Simulator.
