SWITCH ALARM: MODEM COMMS
PROBLEM, TRAFFIC MODEM
These Switch Alarm screen examples show that there are faults – communication has been lost to
the Redundant or the Traffic Modem; accordingly, the front panel “Unit Status” LED indicator is
lit RED.
Suggested corrective actions include:
• Check cable connections.
See Chapter 3. CABLES AND CONNECTIONS.
• Check cable operation.
Ensure the cables are OK by swapping them with others. For cable information refer to
Chapter 3. CABLES AND CONNECTIONS and Appendix A. CABLE DRAWINGS.
• Check modem configurations.
See Chapter 4. MODEM, RMI/TMI, AND SWITCH CONFIGURATION and the pertinent
modem’s Installation and Operation Manual.
SWITCH ALARM: RM PROBLEM
MGC refused, cpde: 12 TFT
This Switch Alarm screen example shows that there is a fault – here, COMMs are good to the
Redundant Modem, but the configuration of the Traffic Modem cannot be configured into the
Redundant Modem. The front panel “Unit Status” is lit RED.
Suggested corrective actions include:
• Ensure that the most capable modem (latest hardware revision, firmware version, FAST
options, installed options e.g. Turbo card) is set up as the Redundant Modem.
The code indicates the parameter within the modem’s “MGC” (Global Configuration)
remote command/query configuration string that is causing the Redundant Modem to
refuse it.
