The application you are running controls when you can scan a bar
code. When it indicates to scan:

1. Attach the safety strap to your wrist.

2. Point the scanner at a slight angle approximately four to eight

inches from the bar code symbol.

3. Press the trigger or other key specified by your System

Administrator.

The Laser Scan LED lights after a successful scan. This light is
at the bottom of the keypad on the 4-line/33 Key Printer and on
the right side of the display on the 8-line/48 Key Printer.

If the bar code does not scan:

Change the angle of the scanner and press the trigger again.

Make sure the scanner window is clean. See "Cleaning the
Scanner Window" later in this chapter.

Try scanning another bar code that you have scanned
successfully. If that scan is successful, this means the first bar
code cannot be decoded. See Chapter 8, "Troubleshooting."
