Safety
3.1
Intended use
The module may be used for failsafe applications in system environment A and B (automa
tion system PSS 4000).
The modules PSSu E F 2DOR 8 and PSSu E F 2DOR 8T may be used as a safety com
ponent in accordance with the Lifts Directive 95/16/EC, EN 811, EN 812 and EN 1151.
The programmable safety system should be installed in a protected environment that meets
at least the requirements of pollution degree 2. Example: Protected inside space or control
cabinet with protection class IP54 and corresponding air conditioning.
The module meets the requirements of EN IEC 61508 up to SIL 3.
It provides failsafe outputs in accordance with IEC 611312. One relay contact is sufficient
for a circuit in accordance with EN 9541, Category 2. Prerequisite: An additional output
switches to a safe condition in the event of an error or, if that is impossible, signals a haz
ardous condition. Category 4 requires two relay contacts in series.

The module PSSu E F 2DOR 8T is suitable for use where there are increased environ
mental requirements (see Technical Details).
The module PSSu E F 2DOR 8R is suitable for use where there are increased environ
mental requirements demanded by railway applications (see Technical Details).
Intended use includes making the electrical installation EMCcompliant. Please refer to the
guidelines stated in the "PSSuniversal Installation Manual". The module is designed for use
in an industrial environment. It is not suitable for use in a domestic environment, as this can
lead to interference.
