Pool Spare Menu
This command displays the following information concerning any pool spares that may exist:

Display Pool Spare
•
Add Pool Spare
•
Delete Pool Spare
Pool Spares are available for usage by any of the arrays on the controller. However, if a pool
spare is too small (smaller than an individual member in the array), it will not be used. Refer
to section "Backoff Percent" for further information.
Add Pool Spare
Up to eight pool spare drives can be created that will be used to reconstruct any critical array
on the controller. After an array has started using a pool spare, other critical arrays are
prevented from using it. In order for a pool spare to be used, it must be as large as the minimum
drive size in the array.
To add a pool spare:
1. Select Add Pool Spare from the Pool Spare menu and press Enter (Figure 19).
2. Select each spare drive to add and press Enter.
3. Type Y to confirm or N to cancel and press Enter.
