Chapter 5: Remote Control
Volume Control
The overall volume of the FX550 can be controlled by an external MIDI device. This volume
function cannot be adjusted on the FX550 itself.
• Applicable MIDI Equipment
• Yamaha MFCl MIDI Foot Controller with Yamaha FC-7 Foot Controller
• MIDI sequencer
• MIDI keyboard
• Set Up Procedure
1.
Press the [UTILITY] button to show the MIDI SETUP display shown below.
2. Press the [
T
] or [
A
] button to select the MIDI bank (A, B, C, or D).
3. Press the [
] or [ ► ] button to position the cursor, and set the MIDI channel parameter
using the [
T]
or [
A
] button. Set the MIDI channel parameter so that it matches the transmit
MIDI channel of the device that is sending the Volume MIDI Controller. If “OMNI” is
selected, MIDI Controllers on any MIDI channel can be received.
4. Press the [UTILITY] button to show the CONTROLLER l*display.
5. Press the [

] or [
A
] button to select the MIDI Controller number of the controller to be
used. (See page 35.)

6. Press the [PLAY] button to return to Play mode, then press the [

the program whose volume you want to control.
7. Press the [EDIT] button to show the CTRL 1*display.

] button to show the “VOLUME 0 100” display.

] button to set the
min and max volume values.
10. Store the settings.
* The same procedures are followed to use the CONTROLLER2 and CTRL2 displays.
• Operation Procedure
1. Connect the MIDI output of the device that is sending the MIDI Volume Controller to the
FX550’s MIDI IN connector.
2. Transmit a MIDI Volume Controller to the FX550.
To prevent the volume level being left at a low level, it is set to maximum in the following
cases.
• When the power is turned on.
•
When a program which does not use the MIDI Volume is selected.
• When a program which used the MIDI Volume is set so that the MIDI volume is not used.
• When the settings for the MIDI Volume Controller are changed.
•
When the MIDI cable is disconnected.
• When the '^IDI signal is not transrhitted correctly.
