[T] Selecting Effect Programs
FX550 effect programs can be selected using MIDI Program Change messages. Normally, Pro
gram Change message 1 selects 1, 2 selects 2, etc. However, this can be changed so that, for
example. Program Change message 4 selects effect program 7, etc. These changes can be stored
in any one of 4 MIDI setup banks: A, B, C, & D. Each bank can be set to receive Program
Change messages on just one MIDI channel or all 16 (OMNI).
• Applicable MIDI Equipment
• Yamaha MFC06, MFC05 and MFCl MIDI foot controllers
• MIDI sequencer
• MIDI keyboard or synthesizer

Effect programs can be selected using the equipment listed above, however, the exact number
of effect programs that can be selected depends on each piece equipment
• Set Up Procedure
1.
Press the [UTILITY] button to show the MIDI SETUP display shown below.
2. Press the [
T
] or [ A ] button to select a bank (A, B, C, or D).
3. Press the [ -^ ] or [ ► ] button to position the cursor under “ch”, and set the MIDI channel
parameter using the [ ▼ ] or [ A ] button.
Set the MIDI channel so that it matches the transmit MIDI channel set on the MIDI device
that you are using to select effect programs. If the parameter is set to “OMNI”, Program
Change messages will be received on all MIDI channels.
