Before installing the adapter, check your system for the following minimum configuration requirements:
l IA-32-based (32-bit x86 compatible)
l One open PCI Express* slot (v1.0a or newer) operating at 1x, 4x, 8x, or 16x.
l The latest BIOS for your system

Cabling Requirements
Intel Gigabit Adapters
l 1000BASE-SX on 850 nanometer optical fiber:
l Utilizing 50 micron multimode, length is 550 meters max.
l Utilizing 62.5 micron multimode, length is 275 meters max.
l 1000BASE-T or 100BASE-TX on Category 5 or Category 5e wiring, twisted 4-pair copper:
l Make sure you use Category 5 cabling that complies with the TIA-568 wiring specification. For more
information on this specification, see the Telecommunications Industry Association's web site:

l Length is 100 meters max.
l Category 3 wiring supports only 10 Mbps.
Intel 10 Gigabit Adapters
l 10GBASE-SR/LC on 850 nanometer optical fiber:
