Adapters

Overview

This release includes Linux Base Drivers for Intel® Network Connections. These drivers are named e1000e, igb, and
ixgbe. Specific information on building and installation, configuration, and command line parameters for these drivers
are located in the following sections:

These drivers are only supported as a loadable module. Intel is not supplying patches against the kernel source to
allow for static linking of the driver. For questions related to hardware requirements, refer to

System Requirements

hardware requirements listed apply to use with Linux.

This release also includes support for Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) drivers. More detail on SR-IOV can be
found

here

. Intel recommends test-mode environments until industry hypervisors release production level support. The

following drivers support the listed virtual function devices that can only be activated on kernels that support SR-IOV.
SR-IOV requires the correct platform and OS support.
