Meter setting too high

Re-check against chart & calibration.

Incorrect cart setup sprockets for implement

Re-check against page 114.

High rate flute stars installed. Meter contains 3-
or 4-star high rate flutes, and standard 2-star
chart was used.

Re-install standard 2-star flutes, or adjust target
rate per “Meter Rate Adjustment” on page 67
before consulting chart.

Seed size and weight vary from chart

Calibrate. Adjust rate to compensate.

Actual field size is different

Verify field size.

Excessive overlap or irregular field shape

Adjust implement marker.

Incorrect tire size or air pressure

Check tire size and air pressure, page 107.

Meter sprocket damaged

Replace if damaged.

Clutch not disengaging

Check implement lift switch, and pressure
switch on early carts.

Erratic
Seeding
Pattern,
Emergence or
Flow

1in seed hoses plugged

Stop and raise the drill. With the fan running,
hand crank the meter and check for seed flow at
the affected rows. See also page 93.

Air leaks - even a small leak can alter seed
delivery dramatically. Air leaks can cause
seeding skips that move across the drill width.

Check hopper lids, meter seals, manifold caps
and seed hose connections. Adjust latch and/or
replace seals as needed.

Fan air flow too low - can have many of the
same symptoms as leaks.

Check fan rpm on seed monitor and air pressure
on magnehelic gauge.
Check for sufficient oil reserve and flow.
On early carts, check fan pressure switch.

Clutch circuit intermittent

Check implement lift switch. Check entire
harness for faulty or corroded connections.
Clean or replace terminals.

Obstruction in tower (sometimes moves from
row to row)

Remove tower cap. Separate and clean out
distribution rings.

Dividers missing or damaged in towers

Remove tower caps and check that dividers are
installed, and their condition.

Ground speed too high can cause erratic
seeding

Reduce ground speed.

Hoe misalignment (hoe-type ADIs only).

Check that openers are lined up with press
wheels.
