5.17.2.2 Cleaning the SPM
In the following cases, it may be necessary to clean the SPM:
￭ Increased backpressure at the SPM's connection tubing.
￭ Blockage of the SPM that cannot be eliminated (solutions can no lon-
ger be pumped through the SPM).
￭ Jamming of the SPM that cannot be eliminated (SPM can no longer be
switched over).
Clean the SPM as described in chapter 5.12.3.3, page 91.
5.17.2.3 Replacing parts of the SPM
In the following cases, it might be necessary to replace parts of the SPM:
￭ Non-rectifiable loss of neutralization capacity (decreased detection sen-
sitivity).
￭ Blockage of the SPM that cannot be eliminated (solutions can no lon-
ger be pumped through the SPM).
Both SPM Rotor A and the connecting piece can be replaced.
Replace the parts of the SPM as described in chapter 5.12.3.4, page 93.
5.18 Separation column
5.18.1 Separating efficiency
The analysis quality that can be attained depends in a large part on the
separating efficiency of the separation column being used. The separation
efficiency of the selected separation column must be sufficient for the cur-
rent analysis problems. If difficulties arise, start by checking the quality of
the separation column in each case by recording a standard chromato-
graph.
