• Oiling the slot cover (4, Fig. 53 ).
To do so, first move the specimen head all the way upwards by turning the handwheel, apply
a few drops of cryostat oil (Type 407) to the slit cover; then, move the specimen head all the
way down and apply a few drops of cryostat oil.
Distribute the oil by turning the handwheel or using a clean tissue.
• In case of visible pollution (such as dust), clean the air inlet opening (5,
Fig. 54 ) of the con-
denser on the bottom right-hand side of the instrument using a brush, broom or extraction
cleaner in the direction of the louvers.
Do not carry out any repairs on your own as this will invalidate the warranty.
Repairs may only be carried out by qualified service engineers authorized by Leica.
