.9.7 Connecting Motor Power to the Bell
Connect the motor power cable to the M1, M2, M3 and M4 terminals of the main power
connector, and the fifth wire to the PE (Protective Earth). The phase connection order is
arbitrary because the Composer will establish the proper commutation automatically during
setup. If several motors/drive combinations are designed to operate in an identical manner,
we recommend downloading the program into all the drives and connecting them in the same
way.
Connect the shield of the cable to the closest ground connection at the motor end.

.9.8 Connecting the Main Power to the Bell
Connect the main power supply cable to the VPW+ and PR terminals of the main power
connector.
Power to the Bell is provided by a 12 ~ 95 VDC source. A “smart” control-supply algorithm
enables the Bell to operate with a power supply only, with no need for an auxiliary 24 V
supply. If backup functionality is required for storing control parameters in case of power-
outs, an external 24 VDC power supply can be connected, providing maximum flexibility and
optional backup functionality when needed.
Notes for connecting the DC power supply:
The source of the 12 ~ 95 VDC Main Power Supply must be isolated.
For best immunity, it is highly recommended to use twisted and shielded cables for
the DC power supply cable. A 3-wire shielded cable should be used. The gauge is
determined by the actual current consumption of the motor.
Connect the cable shield to the closest ground connection near the power
supply.
Connect the PE to the closest ground connection near the power supply.
Connect the PR to the closest ground connection near the power supply.
