Installing and Using
the Apple Displays Software
This chapter explains how to install the Apple Displays Software on your computer and
provides an overview of the software’s features.
Mac OS–based and Windows-based computers can also use manual controls on the display
and the On-Screen Display to adjust settings that the Apple Displays Software does not affect.
For more information, see Chapter 3, “Using Manual Controls and the On-Screen Display.”
What’s Included in the Apple Displays Software?
The Apple Displays Software consists of several files for adjusting basic picture and sound
settings and adjusting the color on your display. These files include
m Monitors & Sound control panel software, which you use to adjust monitor settings
m Control Strip software, which you use to easily change screen resolution and color depth
m DigitalColor Meter, which you use to obtain RGB values and magnify pixels
m PANTONE
®
Color Picker, which allows you to set PANTONE values for colors using the
Color Picker control panel
m ColorSync, which helps you achieve accurate colors onscreen and in print

Installing the Apple Displays Software on Mac OS–Based
Computers
You need the following to be able to install and use the Apple Displays Software:
m a PowerPC-based Macintosh computer
The display is not fully compatible with the PowerBook Duo 2300 series computers.
