Reassemble the pump. See section “Pump Head,” heading
“Installation Notes” on page 6-17.
Dismantle the HG Gearbox
See Figure 6-14: HG Series Gearbox Breakdown on page 6-29.
Review preceding section “Pump and Gearbox Assembly,” begin-
ning on page 6-7 to remove the assembly from the apparatus.
Also review the following sections and dismantle other equipment
form the HG Gearbox:

Pedestal Mount, beginning on page 6-18
1. First, review preceding section “Before You Begin...,” beginning
on page 6-1.
2. At this point, the HG gearbox is separated from other equipment
and is placed on a suitable stand or work bench.
3. If the pump is equipped with a water manifold, Dismantle the
cooling tubing from the gearbox and set safely aside.
Remove the 5/16-18 UNC cap screws and remove the water
manifold and gasket from the gearbox.
Note: If the pump is not equipped with a water manifold, remove the
cap screws, lock washers, gearbox cover, and gasket.
4. Remove the pump shaft bearing and pinion gear from the upper
portion of the gearbox housing.
5. Remove (drive out) the oil seal from the gearbox housing. Re-
moving the seal renders it defective. Order Hale p/n: 296-2810-
00-0.
6. Remove the retaining washer (snap ring) from the gearbox
housing/drive shaft.
7. Using a drift punch, punch-out the knock-out hole and begin
pushing the drive shaft from gearbox.
