Microphone

The microphone jack connects a monaural
microphone or other audio input device.
MIDI/Game port
(gold)

The MIDI/Game port connects a MIDI device or
game joystick.
Modem port

The optional modem port connects the modem
directly to a telephone line (cable not included)
through a standard phone cable. For more
information on using the modem, see Modem
and network communications
Expansion slots
The expansion slot covers keep dust and dirt
from entering the computer through unoccupied
expansion slots.
Setting up the computer
Setting up the computer involves connecting the various components.
This process includes:
Y Positioning the system unit and peripherals
Y Connecting a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the system unit.
Y Connecting the system unit and monitor to an AC power supply
AC power varies by country; you may need to set the power switch on
the back of the system unit. See Setting the voltage switch.
Depending on the computer’s configuration and purpose, you may also
need to:
Y Connect the computer to a local printer.
Y Connect the computer to a network.
Y Install devices in the expansion slot.
