The Windows Security Alert dialog box appears when the “Network FAX” starts under the following conditions:
- When the “Network FAX” was installed and the Windows XP SP2 is newly installed
- When Windows XP SP2 was installed and the “Network FAX” is newly installed
In this step, if the [Keep Blocking] button or the [Unblock] button is pressed in the Windows Security Alert dialog box, the setting
will become as follows:
- When the [Keep Blocking] is pressed:
The communication based on the “Network FAX” is blocked by the Windows Firewall and the function of the direct FAX result
cannot be used.
- When the [Unblock] button is pressed:
The setting is changed so that the communication based on the “Network FAX” can be passed through Windows Firewall. The func-
tion of the direct FAX result can be used as before.
If the [Keep Blocking] button should be pressed in the Windows Security Alert dialog box, the function of the direct FAX
result cannot be used. In such a case, you can restore the function according to the following procedure.
1. Click on [Control Panel] and double-click Security Center icon which is added by installing Windows XP SP2.
2. Double-click Windows Firewall icon in the Windows Security Center dialog box.
3. Select [Exceptions] tab in the Windows Firewall dialog box.
4. Make sure that [FAX Utility] is registered in the list of Programs and Services which is the program of the direct FAX results.
5. Select the [FAX Utility] check box.
6. Click on the [OK] button.
To change the Firewall setting, user log-in with an administrator right is required.
