B Remote command devices
This topic provides information for mapping to command devices in external storage systems.
Overview of remote command devices
You can map to a volume used as a command device in an external system. From the local system,
the mapped command device volume becomes a remote command device.
From an OPEN-systems host connected to the local system, you can send RAID Manager (RAID
Manager) commands to the remote command device, which relays them to the external system
where they are executed. This is shown in the following figure.
