Migrating Event Notification Settings
92
Storage Management Appliance Software User Guide
If there are more users to migrate, choose another user and click Migrate to
complete the process again. When there are no more users with notification
settings to migrate, the Migration Notification Settings icon disappears from the
Getting Started page.
If the target user account has an assigned e-mail address or e-mail pager address,
the migration process does not change that address. The same is true if the target
user had e-mail notification disabled for any reason. If the target user has no
e-mail address (standard or e-mail pager), the migration process assigns the e-mail
address of the previous user.
In all cases, notification settings are migrated and notification is enabled. The
target user receives notification messages for all event types generated by the
same devices and applications as the previous user.
The Storage Management Appliance software v2.1 provides two ways an
administrator can reduce the number of notification messages received by the
target user. One way is to disable notification for particular severity types using
the Notification Info tab of the User Properties page. See “
,” page 67 for more information. The other way is to
disable unwanted event types listed on the Events Summary page for the user.
See “
,” page 71 for more information.
This migration process adds any SNMP trap recipients or hosts to the Storage
Management Appliance database, however the associated settings for event
forwarding are not migrated. See “
,” on page 65 for
detailed information.
