•
Data Retention Utility volumes with a Protect, Read Only, or S-VOL Disable
attribute
•
Volumes created by External Storage
•
Volumes whose LDEV attribute is not NORMAL

Pool-VOLs whose RAID levels are different can be registered in the same pool.
However, in view of performance, HP recommends that you specify the same
RAID level for pool-VOLs registered in the same pool.
Drive type
All drive types
Pool-VOLs whose drive types are different can be registered in the same pool.
However, in view of performance, HP recommends that you specify the same
drive type for pool-VOLs registered in the same pool.
Volume capacity
8 GB to 2 TB
Note:
Dividing a parity group into 16 volumes is recommended for best
performance.
LDEV format
When you change volumes that are used as normal volumes to pool-VOLs,
perform LDEV formatting before you register the volumes to a pool. Once you
register volumes in a pool, you cannot perform LDEV formatting on the pool-VOLs.
Deleting pool-VOLs
You cannot delete pool-VOLs registered in pools. You need to delete pools
themselves, and then delete the pool-VOLs.
Path definition
Not available.
A volume with a path definition cannot be specified as a pool-VOL.
