Guidelines
If you are sharing BC P-VOLs with Cnt Ac-S or Cnt Ac-J S-VOLs, use the following guidelines when
performing a CG pair-split:
•
Maintain a consistent backup of the BC S-VOLs.
For more information about maintaining consistent backups of volumes, see
maintaining consistent Business Copy secondary volume backups” (page 51)
•
Ensure that all BC pairs in the CG are in “PAIR” or “COPY(PD)/COPY”status.
NOTE:
If you share BC pair P-VOLs with Cnt Ac-J S-VOLs and you include BC pairs in a
status other than “PAIR” or “COPY(PD)/COPY” in the CG, you cannot maintain BC S-VOL
consistency.
Supported pair statuses for consistency group pair-split
The pair status for all of the BC pairs in the CG determines if you can perform a consistency group
(CG) pair-split. If all of the BC pairs in the CG are paired (“PAIR” status), you can perform a CG
pair-split.
The following table shows when you can perform a CG pair-split, based on the BC pairs in the
CG that are not paired (a status other than “PAIR”), and the resulting pair status after you perform
the pair-split.

Ensure the status of the pairs within the CG have changed to “PSUS” (use the pairdisplay command).
2.
Consistency is guaranteed only for BC pairs in “PAIR” or “COPY(PD)/COPY” status.
