Logical paths
•
Maximum of eight logical paths supported from primary system to secondary system.
•
Logical paths are established separately for primary and secondary system CUs.
•
Maximum number of logical paths allowed for a primary system is 32 (8 paths per
secondary system X 4 secondary system per primary system).
Groups of logical paths, which allows you to configure or change the configuration of
multiple paths at the same time.
Path group
•
A maximum of 64 path groups can be set in a storage system.
•
The following values can be set as the path group ID:

0-255 (0 to FF in hexadecimal) when connected to the P9500
◦
0 only when connected to XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array, XP12000 Disk Array,
or XP10000 Disk Array
•
The path group is specified during the create pair operation. It cannot be changed by
the resync pair operation.
•
Path groups can be created and specified using RAID Manager. See configuration
setting commands in HP XP P9000 RAID Manager User Guide and sample configuration
definition files in HP XP P9000 RAID Manager Installation and Configuration User
Guide.
•
It is recommended that you specify different paths and path groups for Cnt Ac-J and
Cnt Ac-J Z secondary systems when using CU Free.
Maximum number of

•
Maximum of four secondary systems are supported per primary system.
•
Each secondary system CU must be added separately to a primary system.
Up to 64 Cnt Ac-S, Cnt Ac-S Z, Cnt Ac-J, and Cnt Ac-J Z secondary systems (CU Free) can
be set per primary system.

Pair volumes
•
The P-VOL and S-VOL must be equal in size.
•
The maximum size of P-VOL and S-VOL is 4,194,304.000MB (8,589,934,592 blocks).
However, when primary or secondary system is XP12000 Disk Array/XP10000 Disk
Array, the max. size is 2,949,120.00MB (6,039,797,760 blocks).
•
The minimum size of P-VOL and S-VOL is 48.875MB (96,000 blocks) for OPEN-V. For
all other emulation types, minimum size is 36.156MB (72,000 blocks).
•
One P-VOL may be copied to only one S-VOL.
•
P-VOL and S-VOL can be shared with other HP software product volumes. See
types that can be shared with Continuous Access Synchronous” (page 38)
