7.3 Backlight Replacement
The backlight is a cold-cathode tube. Although the FP uses a long-life backlight, re-
placement may be required earlier than expected depending on the environment where
the FP is used.
The life span of the backlight is as follows:
(Time period until the backlight becomes half as bright as a new one)
50,000 hours (approx. 5.7 years)
When a burned-out backlight is detected, the status LED flashes alternately green and
red, or a steady orange.
• To prevent an electric shock, be sure to turn the FP unit's
power OFF before replacing the backlight.
• The backlight and the FP itself will be very hot just after
turning off the power. To avoid burning your skin, be
sure to wear gloves when replacing the backlight.
• The backlight is very fragile. To avoid possible injury, do
not directly touch the glass or pull the cable.
• Normally, the FP unit detects a backlight burnout by monitoring the
backlight's current flow. However, the FP may fail to detect backlight
burnout, or may only detect it before the backlight burns out com-
pletely, depending on the type of backlight problem.
• Please check that the replacement backlight is compatible with the FP.
