relocking. Attempt to relock it by either turning the keyswitch or opening the door (depending
on the relocking means which has been set in the Dip Switches). An LED which is off denotes
either that the door is not receiving power or that the Magnalock is not reporting secure. If the

lock exhibits no holding force as you try to open the door, the problem is power. If the lock is
partially holding, it is a lock status reporting problem. Release the door and clean the surface of
the magnet body and strike. Make sure that the strike plate is able to swivel somewhat so as to
line up to the magnet body face. If this doesn’t restore correct operation, contact the factory.

4.5. EXTERNAL SOUNDER
The iMXD is delivered with an internal Sonalert. As factory set, the Sonalert is operated by
system power (12 or 24 VDC) being delivered to it via the “A” terminal on the control board.
You will note that there is a red wire connected to this terminal. This goes to the positive input
of the Sonalert. The sounder operates during the nuisance and release delay periods.

In some applications, the internal sounder may not be deemed loud enough or an audio signal
may be desired to sound remotely. A user supplied external sounder may therefore be added to
the installation. When you select the sounder, make sure that it will operate on system DC
voltage and that it does not draw more than 800 mA of current. To connect the external
sounder, first note that it can replace the internal sounder or operate together with the

internal sounder. If you wish to replace the internal sounder, simply disconnect the wire
present from the sounder to the A terminal. The external sounder is then connected by
attaching its negative input wire to control board terminal “-“ and its positive input wire
to control board terminal “+”.

4.6. EXTERNAL RELOCKING
In most installations, relocking (after delayed exit) is accomplished
either via the keyswitch or when the door is used, (the iMXD detects
door use). Certain codes however (see Section 4) permit “manual”
relocking and this can be, for example, from a differently located
keyswitch (or other type switch). Relocking can be done from a

remote location after, for example, video surveillance of the door.

If you wish to incorporate external relocking, first note that it can replace the internal
keyswitch or operate as an alternative to the internal keyswitch.
If you wish to replace
the internal keyswitch, simply disconnect the wire present from the keyswitch to the RS

terminal. The external relocking switch is then connected by attaching its COM wire to control
board terminal “+”
and its normally closed wire to control board terminal RS. In the
“normal” condition, power will be conducted to terminal RS. Relocking (reset) is accomplished
by the external switch opening and then reclosing. Actual relocking occurs at the moment the
switch re-closes.

If you wish the external switch to operate as an alternate relocking means with the internal
keyswitch, the two switches are connected in series. Either one can then break power to the RS
terminal. To understand this, look at Figure 5 and note the red wire which goes from terminal
RS to the switch. You break this connection and add your new, NC type switch in series such

that either your switch or the keyswitch can break power to RS, therefore performing Relocking.

5. KEYSWITCH AND LED’s
5.1 KEYSWITCH
Note that the integral keyswitch consists of a back bracket which mounts a momentary SPDT
switch such that when a key is turned in the cylinder, a cam on the rear of the cylinder

depresses the switch. The assembly can accept a second switch for maintained Bypass (see
Section 4.3) and many users which to change the cylinder to one compatible with the building
locking system. The back bracket will accept any North American 1 1/8” or 1 1/4” mortise
cylinder
so the cylinder itself may be changed by a local locksmith or it may be re-keyed if
the keyway is acceptable. The iMXD is factory delivered with a cylinder by Arrow.

If the user does not wish to use the keyswitch for Relocking or Bypass, the iMXD includes a plug
to cover up the cylinder hole for best appearance. In that instance, it is wisest to remove the
wires from the keyswitch to the control board (be sure to tape and tie them off). If the user
