The EVSE internally monitors its operating performance. If there is a failure of its performance, the
status indicator on the EVSE will indicate RED and lockout.
Overvoltage/Undervoltage Faults:
The EVSE monitors line voltage and cuts power to the EV if the voltage goes out of range. After 1
minute the EVSE rechecks the voltage and will automatically re-enable charging if the voltage comes
back within acceptable range. The status indicator will turn RED as long as charging is interrupted.
Overload Fault:
The EVSE monitors the current being drawn by the EV. If this current exceeds the capability of the
EVSE fuse, charging will be interrupted and the status indicator will show turn RED. This fault can be
cleared by disconnecting from the EV.
3.3 Technical Data
The GE EV Charging Station has features which provide a robust and reliable solution for the needs of
EV charging infrastructure.
LED light to display charger status
Option for a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader: users will gain charging authorization by
swiping RFID cards in front of the readers
Ethernet network offered for RFID authorization service
RFID software application registers usage of the EV Charging Station, enabling data collection,
and will also monitor status of communication between RFID and EVSE
Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) screen showing greetings, instructions and charging station
messages
Nuisance tripping avoidance and auto re-closure
Vehicle ground monitoring circuit
Single phase metering, displayed on VFD
