Strong product movements
Strong turbulences in the vessel, e.g. caused
by stirrers or strong chemical reactions, can
seriously interfere with the measurement. A
surge or bypass tube (figure) allows, pro-
vided the product causes no buildup in the
tube, a reliable measurement even with
turbulences in the vessel.

Inflowing material
Do not mount the instrument in or above the
filling stream. Ensure that you detect the
product surface and not the inflowing mate-
rial.
Buildup
If the sensor is mounted too close to the
vessel wall, buildup and adhesions of the
measured product to the vessel wall will
cause false echoes. Position the sensor at a
sufficient distance from the vessel wall.
