Dial Timeout (sec) Enter a number of seconds for the ZyWALL to keep trying to set up
an outgoing call before timing out (stopping). The ZyWALL times
out and stops if it cannot set up an outgoing call within the timeout
value.

Retry Count Enter a number of times for the ZyWALL to retry a busy or no-
answer phone number before blacklisting the number.

confirmation.

5.6 Backup Remote Node Setup
The rest of this chapter shows you how to configure a remote node for a dial-backup connection.
5.6.1 Metric
The metric sets the priority for the ZyWALL’s routes to the Internet. If any two of the default routes have the
same metric, the ZyWALL uses the following pre-defined priorities:
1. Normal
route:
designated by the ISP (see Remote Node Setup chapter) or a static route (see the IP Static
Route Setup chapter)
2. Traffic-redirect route (see the Remote Node Setup chapter)
