3 Receiving Documents
The WorkCentre can receive documents automatically or manually.
Various features are available for customizing your document
receiving operation. You can specify a reduction mode for use when
oversized documents are received, collate received documents or
receive to memory.
The following receiving modes are available:

Situation for Selection Sequence of Operation
Auto Answer Use when the machine is
connected to a dedicated
telephone line for facsimile use
only. Upon receiving a call, the machine
answers and receives a document
automatically.
FAX/TAD *
Auto
Switching Use when the machine is used
together with a telephone
answering device (TAD). When enabled, the machine receives
voice messages and fax receptions
without a user present. Switching
between the voice message recording
and fax receiving is performed
automatically.
TEL/FAX *
Auto
Switching Use when one line is used for
both fax and telephone. When enable, the machine
automatically determines whether an
incoming call is a fax or voice call.
When the call is a voice call, the ringer
will continue until the Pseudo Ring
Times value is reached, then switch to
fax mode.
Manual
Answer Use when the machine is
connected to a line that is
primarily used for voice. Upon receiving an incoming call, pick
up the telephone handset to talk with
the remote party before starting any
fax communication.
