The Gigaset SE551 WLAN
dsl/cable or other PCs can-
not be reached by a PC in the
connected LAN with a ping
command.

ì

Make sure that TCP/IP has been installed and con-
figured on all the PCs on the local network.

ì

Check that the IP addresses have been properly
configured. In most cases you can use the
Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable's DHCP function to
assign dynamic addresses to the PCs in the LAN. In
this case, you have to configure the TCP/IP settings
of all the PCs so that they obtain the IP address
automatically.
If you configure the IP addresses in the LAN
manually, remember to use the subnet mask
255.255.255.x. This means that the first three
parts of the IP address on each PC and the
Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable have to be identical.
The device also has to be configured as DNS server.

No connection to the
Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/
cable's configuration envi-
ronment.

ì

Use the ping command to check whether you can
establish a network connection to the Gigaset
SE551 WLAN dsl/cable.

ì

Check the network cable between the PC you
want to use to administer the device and the
Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable.

ì

If the PC you want to use is on the device's local
network, make sure that you are using the correct
IP address administration (see above).

ì

If the PC you want to use is not on the router's local
network it must be authorised via Remote Manage-
ment.

Password forgotten or lost

ì

Reset the Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable
(see page 17).

Warning: Please bear in mind that this will restore all
the configuration settings to the factory settings.

You cannot access a
resource (drive or printer)
on a different PC.

ì

Make sure that TCP/IP has been installed and con-
figured on all the PCs on the local network and that
the PCs all belong to the same workgroup.

ì

Check whether the resource has been released on
the PC in question and whether you have the nec-
essary access rights.

ì

Printing: check whether the printer has been set up
as a network printer.
