Selection
Typically, at least one button page should provide a set of selection buttons.
Operators press selection buttons to select levels (when the panel is in XY mode)
or to select MD device (in MD mode). Each selection button represents one level
or one MD device.
You may configure any number of selection buttons (on any button page). The
selection buttons can be arranged anywhere on the button page.
The selection buttons on any button page are unrelated to the selection buttons
on any other page. Only the selection buttons on the currently visible page are
active at a given time.
When there are more levels, or more MD devices, than buttons on a page, the
panel enables scrolling. The operator presses ‘Page Up’ or ‘Page Down’ to scroll
through the levels or MD devices to make selections.
Scrolling is affected by two factors
—
the presence or absence of a ‘VFD/Sel
Paging Toggle’ button and whether the ‘Page VFD only’ option is in effect. Thus,
If your panel does not have a ‘VFD/Sel Paging Toggle’ button,
1 When the ‘Page VFD Only’ option is not in effect, selection buttons scroll
(always in increments of 8) when the panel’s display scrolls. We say that the
selection buttons “follow” the display.
2 When the ‘Page VFD Only’ option is in effect, only the panel’s display scrolls
and the selection buttons, if any, do not scroll.
If your panel does have a ‘VFD/Sel Paging Toggle’ button,
1 When the ‘VFD/Sel Paging Toggle’ button reads ‘Paging LCD Display’, the
panel’s display scrolls (and selection buttons do not).
2 When the ‘VFD/Sel Paging Toggle’ button reads ‘Paging Select Buttons’, the
selection buttons scroll by an increment equal to the number of buttons on
the page (and the display does not scroll).
Under the ‘All Buttons’ model, there is no such effect.
If the panel is configured so that both the display and the selection buttons
scroll, the number of selection buttons on a page should be exactly 8.
See
on page 38 for further detail.
During configuration, when you assign a selection button, an additional drop-
down menus appears in the button definition area: ‘Display Index’. An ‘Edit Multi-
Dest Devices’ button also appears.
The drop-down menu for the button’s display index has as many entries as the
panel’s ‘MultiDest Device Limit’ option. The number of selection buttons would
usually be much smaller than the MD device limit. We recommend that you
choose consecutive display indexes from 1 to the number of selection buttons
on the page.
Use the ‘Edit Multi-Dest Devices’ button to define MD devices. They are assigned
to selection buttons in the order in which you define them. See
