1 Overview
To meet ever-increasing requirements for managing large networks, H3C recommends deploying IMC in
distributed mode and using a remote dedicated database server. This scales to networks from 500 to
15000 devices.
IMC components
IMC includes the IMC Platform and service components.
IMC Platform
The IMC Platform is the base component for providing IMC services and includes the following
subcomponents:

Service components
Service components are optional and purchased separately from the IMC Platform. Their installation and
deployment are based on the IMC Platform.
The service components are as follows:
•
Endpoint Intelligent Access (EIA)—Includes User Access Manager (UAM) and TACACS+
Authentication Manager (TAM).

User Access Manager (UAM)—Provides policy based AAA (Authentication, Authorization and
Accounting) services. UAM software extends management to wired, wireless and remote
