The CLI will then prompt you to enter the , , and
, where and are optional. All commands in the
CLI have this feature, and complex commands have several layers of
parameter prompting.
In the above example, the command ping was entered without the required
parameters. If the required parameters are not supplied, the proper syntax for
the command will be displayed. After reading the syntax, the command can be
re-entered with the target IP address and can be executed successfully.
All commands in the CLI function in this manner. The syntax of the help
prompts are the same as presented in this manual
− angle brackets < > indicate
a numerical value or character string, braces { } indicate optional parameters
or a choice of parameters, and brackets [ ] indicate required parameters.
If a command that has been entered is not recognized by the CLI, the top-level
commands will be displayed.
