Control and maintenance of the chain brake
Braking function control:
The chain brake must be checked several times daily. Place the saw on firm ground.
Hold the handles with both hands and apply full throttle. Activate the chain brake by
turning your left wrist against the hand guard, without releasing your grip around the
front handle. The chain should stop immediately (illustr.).
Activating function control
The chain brake must be checked several times daily. Hold the chain saw approx.
35 cm (14 in) above a trunk or other firm object (illustr.).
CAUTION! The engine must be shut off.
Release your grip around the front handle and let the saw by its own weight rotate
around the rear handle. When the tip of the bar hits the trunk, the brake should
activate.
On chain brakes equipped with the Swed-O-Matic, set the adjustment screw so
that the brake is activated at this control. If necessary, reduce the distance between
the adjustment screw and the front handle to make the brake activate more easily.
WARNING! Contact your servicing dealer if the chain brake is not correctly activated.
Maintenance:
IMPORTANT! Dirt and wear affect the function of the brake. Follow all maintenance
instructions, carefully.
With the engine shut off, the hand guard can be moved back and forth, to ensure that
the mechanism works freely and also that the brake activates. If necessary, clean the
brake from resin and chips. Lubricate the mechanism and bearing surfaces with oil.
Check that the brake band is at least 0.55 mm (.022 in) thick, at the most worn part.
WARNING! Contact your servicing dealer if anything is incorrect with your chain
brake.

Kontrolle der Bremskraft
Die Bremse vor jeder Anwendung kontrollieren. Die Säge auf eine feste Unterlage
setzen. Die Griffe mit beiden Händen fassen und Vollgas geben. Die Kettenbremse
auslösen, indem man das linke Handgelenk gegen den Handschutz biegt ohne dabei
den vorderen Griff loszulassen. Die Kette soll sofort abbremsen (Abb.).
Kontrolle der Auslösekraft
Die Bremse vor jeder Anwendung kontrollieren. Die Säge etwa 35 cm über einen
Baumstumpf oder einem anderen festen Gegenstand halten (siehe Abb.).
ACHTUNG! Der Motor soll abgestellt sein.
Den vorderen Griff loslassen und die Säge vom eigenen Gewicht um den hinteren
Griff schwingen lassen. Wenn die Schienenspitze den Baumstumpf trifft, soll die
Bremse auslösen.
An Bremsen mit einer Swed-O-Matic Stellschraube soll diese so eingestellt sein,
dass die Bremse bei diesem Versuch auslöst. Wird der Abstand zwischen Stell­
schraube und Griffbügel verringert, löst sich die Bremse leichter aus.
HINWEIS! Falls die Bremse nicht einwandfrei funktioniert, mit der Servicewerkstatt
Kontakt aufnehmen.

HINWEIS! Verschmutzung und Verschleiss beeinflussen die Bremskraft. Die
Wartungsvorschriften sind daher genau zu befolgen.
Mit abgestelltem Motor, Handschutz hin- und zurückschieben, um die Leichtgängig­
keit und die Funktion zu überprüfen. Von Zeit zu Zeit Harz und Sägespäne entfernen.
Den Mechanismus und alle Lagergleitflächen mit Öl schmieren. Kontrollieren, dass
das Bremsband an der am meisten veschlissenen Stelle mindestens0,55 mm dick ist.
ACHTUNG! Bei einem Fehler an der Kettenbremse, mit der Service-Werkstatt
Kontakt aufnehmen.
