SECTION 5. LEARN THE STITCHES
The mending or multiple zigzag is a comb-
nation zigzag and straight stitch. Use the
mending everywhere you would use the
basic zigzag stitch. It has more strength,
elasticity, and is flatter than a regular zigzag.
The mending stitch is especially useful for:
—— sewing patches smoothly and securely.
“— repairing straight tsars.
~ finishing seams on terrycloth.
---- sewing bar tacks for belt loops and
drapery pleats.
*- position the tear under the needle so that the stitching will catch bath sides.
Cornered - stitch from each
end
to the center.
Use a
piece of fabric
under
the tear to reinforce your mending.
