SECTION 4. PRACTICE COMMON STITCHING SKILLS
Sewing on Heavy Fabrics
When sewing from 3 to 12 layers of fabnc, such as sewing over welt seams
when hemming jeans.
1. Use Foot A (Zigzag foot) with the black spring button.
NOTE: This black button locks the foot so it does not give with the fabric.
2. Sew as usual.
3. Stop when your needle reaches the point where the fabric layers increase.
4. Lower the needle and raise the presser foot.
5. Press and hold the black button as you lower the presser foot.
6. Release the black button and continue sewing.
Droppirig the Feed Dogs
The drop teed lever is located underneath the free arm bed on the back side of
the machine. Remove extension table to operate.
® To raise the feed dogs, push the
lever in the direction of the arrow
as iilustrated.
Then turn the handwheel.
* Feed dogs must always be up for
norma! sewing.
@ For dropping the feed dogs, push
the lever in the direction of the
arrow as illustrated.
