Shooting in Manual Focus Mode
The focus can be manually set.
1 Press the button to turn on the LCD monitor.
2 Press the button.
The icon and the MF indicator will appear on
the LCD monitor.
3 Turn the main dial to focus.
• The AF frame area is magnified when [MF-Point
Zoom] is set to [On] in the [ (Rec.)] menu.*
* Except in the , modes, when the digital zoom is activated
or a TV is used as the display.
* Can also be set so that the image displayed is not magnified
(p. 159).
• The MF indicator shows approximate figures. Use them as a shooting
guideline only.
• Adjust the focus by turning the main dial until the image appears focused
on the LCD monitor.
• In , or mode, you can switch between the manual focus, aperture
value and shutter speed selection by clicking the main dial. A green
A
appears at the left of selectable items.
• Pressing the button a second time cancels the manual focus mode.

3 Recompose the image and press the shutter button all the way

• Method 2 is convenient because you can let go of the shutter button to
recompose the image.
• When shooting through glass, get as close as possible to avoid reflection off the
glass.
