Note: The infrared CO

2

sensor is protected from exposure to high temperatures during the

decontamination cycle. It does not need to be removed at any point during normal operations,
including decontamination.

Note: The incubator will automatically cease injecting CO

2

for the duration of the cycle.

An instructional video for

how to launch the decontamination auto cycle

in the SCO6AD

(previously designated as the 3552) can be found on the Shel Lab website at:
http://www.shellab.com/store/virtual-tour-3552-co2.html.

The incubator was run through a decontamination cycle at the factory. However, Sheldon
Manufacturing cannot guarantee that unit has not been exposed to contaminants en route.

Remove all samples and equipment.

Leave all shelving items inside the chamber, if allowed by your laboratory protocol.

Empty the humidity tray of all water.

a. Failure to empty the tray will extend the ramp up heating and cool down stages

of the decontamination cycle. This may adversely

impact the cycle’s efficacy.

Remove the copper antimicrobial token from the humidity pan.

a. Leaving the token in the pan during a decontamination cycle will result in

oxidation of the token, and possible discoloration or staining of the humidity
pan.

b. Manually disinfect the token using disinfectants and cleaning methods

appropriate to your laboratory protocol.

Close both the internal and external incubator chamber doors.

a. The decontamination cycle will not initiate while the doors are open.
