RPM SENSOR – NITRO/BRUSH MOTORS/SENSORLESS MOTORS
Sensor Description: The Nitro/Brush RPM Sensor accurately measures the RPM of a nitro engine, brushed
motor or sensorless brushless motor. RPM measurement can help in gear ratio optimization. The included
magnets are required for installation.
Measurement Range: 500-99,999 RPM
Plugs Into: The 3-pin connector plugs into the RPM Slot (RPM) in the
Novak Sentry Data Logger unit with the black wire toward the outside/left
edge of the case.
Default Settings (
configurable setting
):
Graph Color:
Max Value (Gauge display only): 90,000 RPM
Name String: RPM
Installation Instructions
(refer to image shown right):
Install the included 2 magnets on the rotating part of the drive train
180˚ apart from each other. Be sure that the 2 magnets have
opposite polarities—one facing north and the other facing south.
HINT: Stick the magnets together and mark the outside face with a
permanent marker. The marked sides of the magnets are opposite
poles and should be placed facing away from the RPM sensor.
Place the RPM sensor in a location where the magnets pass. The
RPM sensor should be no more than 2-3mm (0.0785” – 0.118”)
away from the magnet.
Update the RPM Ratio setting in the
section to obtain the correct RPM reading. The RPM Ratio is the
number of motor turns for every turn of the rotating object that the
magnets are attached.

WARNING!
Do not plug in this sensor backwards! Plugging in the RPM sensor backwards will cause
damage to your Novak Sentry Data Logger and void the
