REMOVE THE ORIGINAL TIMING/SENSOR ASSEMBLY

1. Remove the Motor from your vehicle.
2. Using a 3/32” hex wrench, unscrew the three main 4-40 socket

head cap screws from the pinion shaft side of the motor, and

remove the back end assembly (end bell or end ring with timing/

sensor assembly attached to it) from the motor.

3. Remove the fiberglass insulator from inside the back end bell/ring.

4. Using a 1.5mm hex wrench, unscrew the three flat-head screws

securing the end cap to the back end assembly. This will allow

the back end bell/ring, bearing cap, and timing assembly to be

separated. Put these screws in your toolbox, as they will not

be used with the new Timing/Sensor Assembly.

ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED

1. 3/32” hex wrench
2. 1.5mm hex wrench

Make a note of what the Motor Timing is set to.

This is the setting marked on the end cap’s timing label that lines

up with the timing notch machined into the end bell/end ring.

You’ll need this to properly set the motor’s timing during assembly.

INSTALL THE NEW TIMING/SENSOR ASSEMBLY

1. Insert new timing assembly up into the bottom side of the end

bell or end ring with the sensor side toward the “inside” of the

motor and the sensor harness connector toward the outside.

2. Install the bearing cap onto the outside of the end bell/end ring

with the plastic sensor harness connector on the timing assembly

aligned with the sensor harness opening of the bearing cap.

3. Included with the new Timing/Sensor Assembly are new, shorter flat

head screws for the motor’s bearing cap. These screws must be used to

avoid possible shorting of the sensor assembly as the result of updates

made to the timing components. Insert the new M2.5 x 9mm flat-

head screws through the holes in the bearing cap and thread

them into the sensor assembly with a 1.5mm hex wrench.

4. Line up the timing notch on the end bell/ring with the proper

timing setting on the bearing cap’s timing label, then tighten

the three flat-head screws in a circular pattern to ensure that

the screws are tightened evenly--DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.

5. Place the fiberglass insulator under the back end bell/ring,

making certain that it is aligned correctly.

6. Line up the motor’s solder tabs with the opening in the back

end bell/ring, and slide the back assembly onto the motor,

guiding the rotor shaft into the bearing.

7. Once the back assembly is properly seated on the motor, use

a 3/32” hex wrench to tighten the three main screws on the

pinion shaft side of the motor into the back end bell/ring--use a

circular pattern, to ensure each screw is tightened evenly.

Do not tighten the screws completely. Leave them a little loose

so that the end cap/timing assembly can swivel in the end bell.
