The Haltech EB023 Ignition Module operates on a falling edge. This means that the spark is
fired when input trigger signal drops to 0 V. Many, but not all, OEM ignitions operate with
the same trigger logic. Most after-market ignition systems fire their spark on the rising trigger
edge (same as points). Make sure that you set the ignition output trigger edge correctly. If set
to the wrong edge, the timing will be out by significant amount and engine damage may
result.

E.6 Alternate Ignition Systems


The output of the Haltech Ignition Module can be used to trigger after-market ignition
systems such as MSD or Jacobs. There are several reasons why it is not normally possible to
directly connect the ignition output of the E6H/E6M ECU to the trigger input of one of these
systems. The main reasons are lack of dwell control and the signal polarity is the inverse of
the polarity required by most of these systems. It is possible to invert the ignition output of the
E6H/E6M through the Ignition Set-up [4.6.1], which makes the output suitable for ignition
systems that do not need dwell control.
