Rapid advance (Rapid reverse)
With the remote control
Press SLOW/SEARCH (◄◄, ►►) during play.
Reverse Forward
(Example)
•The speed of advance (reverse) is relatively slow at first.
When the button Is pressed again, the speed increases up to
5 steps.
On the player
Press and hold SKIP/SEARCH ([◄◄,
during play.

Reverse Forward
•The speed is maintained even after the button is released.
•Normal play is resumed when PLAY is pressed.
For your reference:
•When SLOW/SEARCH (◄◄, ►►) or SKIP/SEARCH {!◄◄,
►>!/◄◄, ►►) Is used during menu play of Video CDs with
playback control, a menu screen may sometimes be re­
called.
• For DVDs and Video CDs, audio will be heard during scan­
ning (forward direction only) at the initial scan speed. (See
page 39.) For CDs, audio wilt be heard during scanning at
every scan speed (1 to 5). (For dts CDs, audio will not be
heard at any speed.)
Frame advance (Frame reverse)
[DVD/Video CD]
Tilt the joystick In the still picture mode.

•The disc is advanced (reversed) by one frame each time the
joystick (◄, ►) is tilted.
•When the joystick (◄, ►) is kept tilted, consecutive frame
advance (reverse) works.
• Normal play is resumed when PLAY is pressed. •
Note
• For Video CDs, frame reverse is not possible.
For your reference:
•Pressing PAUSE also activates frame advance.
•Whether the pictures are advanced by a “Frame" or “Field” is
automatic. (See page 39.)

Canceling playback control
[Video CD]
1. Press STOP after the menu screen appears (after step 4 on
page 14).
(“PBC” will be cleared from the player’s FL display.)
2. Press the numeric buttons to select a track.
(Play begins.)
• Refer to the jacket etc. of the disc concerned for the track
numbers.
• Press “1” to start play from the beginning of the disc.
To return to menu play
Press STOP to stop playback and press MENU.
(“PBC" will light up on the player’s FL display and the menu
screen is resumed.)
